We are carrying out the ultra-low cost PCB prototyping service plant, and now just in the testing step. We will make some prototype out for seeing the real quality of our new supplier.
Many clients may ask how can you make such low price !? Now we’d like to tell you something about this low cost prototyping business.
The factory will not accept the 10pcs x 5cm x 5cm (250cm^2) order. But they can accept the order in 10pcs x 100cm x 100cm about 10m^2 area order – 10 Square meters is the minimum area limitation for a PCB production order.
We receive many small area orders from you, and make them together into a large board as below:
Now, we can send this big one to factory and make it, when it back, we will cut it split it into many small boards and sent them to you. So now you can understand why we just have the 5×5 10×10 order but not 5×10, it will easier for us to build a boards and reduce losses. And we just make little profit from the cut off, so we not accept the Make-up orders, it will make us deficit in this order.
It means we should get enough orders in 2-3 days to build a large board, but now , if you can accept 6-7 days processing time, we will get 4-5 days to build it, so we can build a 2 x 5pcs x 100cm x 100cm one, you will get 5pcs but 10 now – the same cost for us but we make twice boards than before.
When 10 large boards, factory do the half e-test for us, and now we persuade them to make 2 different 5 boards, and they will not offer e-test now, so – the ultra-low cost PCB service will have not any e-test.
We spend a lot of time in communicating with clients for the error on their boards, or many unclear things on their board. For this ultra-low cost service , you may not get any support from us, but need to strictly follow our rule – we just will reply you that your gerber have problem or not meet our requirements. Soon we will post the requirements on iForum for discussion.
We will retain the original prototyping service, and then you can choose this low cost one or the original one yourself.

I was just looking at the old PCB service and I was wondering why the prices are so different for the same surface? 10pcb’s 10×10cm will cost me 25$ and 10pcb’s of 15×5cm will cost me 13$ more, while it’s 25% less surface.
Maby it’s an idea to offer it by area and charge a little extra for 0-5 boards, 6-10 and so on that has to be cut out of it? Then we can design pcb’s much more efficient.
Wouldn’t it be easier to combine the orders if you do just 4 pieces of each size? Doing 5 means after combining 4 of them to the next larger size, you have one left. Doing 4 means you always end up with squares.
